On top of all of that, its just gorgeous with the figured maple cap and translucent green finish. Also came with a super nice gig bag. I fee like a dope for not getting a PRS years ago, but I couldn't be happier to have joined the ranks of PRS fans with this guitar. A very very welcome addition to my collection. And special thanks to my sales engineer Alex Jasiak, Drake i. The music department, and Joey who went absolutely above and beyond to give me the most fun day in a music store Ive ever had!!!! I won't but guitars anywhere else again.
\nI love the Wide\/Thin fretboard. It give you plenty of room around the 12th to 15th frets. The fretwork is by far the best Ive seen on a new guitar so far. The ends are rounded and the edge of the fretboard is smooth. I cant say enough good things about this guitar. I should have gotten a PRS a long time ago.

This guitar is a very high quality way to get the best of both worlds without carrying multiple axes, or spending yourself into oblivion. I am not an expert, just a player. But, the quality build of this PRS Custom SE 24-08 is so very obvious. The longer neck will take a little time to get used to. But that time is well-spent, especially if you play lead in the high registers. The tone of this guitar is versatile and rich. The volume pots really add dimension. Pulled back, they can be clean. When combined with the right amp settings, they can add magnificent amounts of crunch and saturation that leave Fenders in the dust. The tone pots offer a very wide dimension. I usually end up running my Strat tone knobs on 10. PRS tone pots, like the volume pots, are just wider sounding. Every aspect of this guitar exudes quality. It is a great value for the dollar.
\n I buy guitars from Sweetwater because I live in a rural area with music stores few and far between that have a lack of stock in their showrooms. I have worked with Ty, my sales rep, for many years, on many purchases. I trust the 55 point set up Sweetwater offers. I have purchased guitars from them before. However, this last time, the intonation on my E and A strings was quite sharp. I am a little bit disappointed there. It did play out of the box. The set up was otherwise good. The 55 point inspection is the reason I buy from Sweetwater. It is also the reason for only a 4.5 star rating this time.
\n $929. plus tax is a lot of money to me. This guitar is worth every penny! I will sell my 2012 Stratocaster at some point to offset the cost. \nMy review of the guitar is , if you are on the fence maybe a little nervous to buy an import PRS, Dont be. The attention to detail is everywhere, the frets on this guitar ( towards the fretboard edge specifically ) are like it has been played for 20 years just smoooooth. The amount of tones available with the -08 switching are very sublime. But if you like me tend to play heavier more distorted guitar , you are really going to enjoy the definition you get out of the bridge pickup. Weight wise and balance wise this is also just a wonderful guitar it plays so comfortably standing or sitting it feels like part of you. This was my first guitar purchase from Sweetwater, so I decided to go with the basic setup and my normal strings ( 10-52 ) I am quite pleased at the playability and the tuning stability is quite nice. I also love exactly where they placed all the controls on this particular model as they are out of the way but also very accessible when needed.I only have two minor caveats.
\nTO call this neck thin is well, not even close, its a chunk not uncomfortable at all and actually I am enjoying it but if you , like me are use to the thinner necks ( Ibanez wizard, Jackson Rhoads etc ) then you will be surprised that this is called a thin wide profile. also and this is just me I would prefer a satin or no finish on the neck.
\nI also would love to see this come with Locking tuners ( I purchased the SE Locking tuners and will review them separately ). I must confess that I purchased it based on the look of the veneered top alone. I am pleasantly surprised by the playability of this instrument. I rated it only 4\/5 based on issues I had with the trem block.
\n
\nOn the good side
\nHands down the easiest playing guitar I have ever owned. I set the action to 1\/16\" at the 12th fret on all six strings with .009\" relief at the 8th fret.
\nThe radius, scale length, and Pattern Wide Thin neck on this model are ideal for me. BTW, the neck isnt really that wide or that thin IMO.
\nThe quality of the fret work exceeded my expectations.
\nThe nut is slotted to perfection (with .009-.042 strings at least). Tuning is stable even after going to extremes with the trem bar.
\nAn absolutely beautiful guitar front and back; the Gallery pictures didnt do it justice.
\n
\nThe trem block needs some improvment. The springs rattled excessively when playing chords or any C# note on the fretboard. Sweetwater Customer Support quickly sent a new set of springs which eventually resolved the issue. However, this trem block is very malleable, and I had an extremely difficult time removing the original springs. Also, the ball end of several strings were stuck inside this block and had to be driven out with a screwdriver from the top. Frustrated, I replaced the original block with a brass block.
\n
\nThe jury is still out on the pickups. My initial opinion is not a good one. Both neck and bridge sound one dimensional or sterile to my ears. Note clarity is good when playing chords clean or with overdrive, but everything sounds thin. Also, a strange overbearing bass frequency is present when the volume knob is above 8. Not sure if what Im hearing is pickup or the treble bleed control related. I like the sound of both pickups selected together in single coil mode; it quacks better than any Strat Ive owned. Since this is my first PRS, I will commit some time and effort to learn about these pickups work before replacing them.

Your new guitar is carefully removed from the box, photographed, inspected, and repackaged. I will only buy guitars from Sweetwater.
! ! So many tones and it plays like butter!!! It is truly the Swiss Army knife of guitars!!! If they ever make one in blue I'll buy another one!!! Than you Greg and Sweetwater!!!
\nI love the Wide\/Thin fretboard. It give you plenty of room around the 12th to 15th frets. The fretwork is by far the best Ive seen on a new guitar so far.

\n

these make playing so easy, i always liked the feel of a strat and the sound of a les paul but these fit right in between and are the perfect match between the two. setup was perfect, tone is to die for with all the possibility's, and the colors are like a freshly ceramic coated piece of juicy fruit gum. i wish that i could afford one in every color. dont waste your time dealing with others, been there done that. Sweetwater is the only place to shop, unless you like to spend hundreds more on your gear. so pleasurable with a company that not only gives you great deals but also backs it up with the best customer service ever.

\n

I upgraded the knobs to the clear/black ones you see on the s2 line and plan on getting locking tuners but other than that it's perfect. 900 is incredible for this quality.

PRS did a superb job, no cost cutting having frets that are cheap and cut into your fingers. No this is very well made. I want to thank my awesome sales engineer Geoff Allan he went far and beyond for me. He sent me pictures before it arrived, I could hardly wait for it. You will not make a mistake with this guitar. Thanks Sweetwater.

The tone pots offer a very wide dimension. I usually end up running my Strat tone knobs on 10. PRS tone pots, like the volume pots, are just wider sounding. Every aspect of this guitar exudes quality. It is a great value for the dollar.

\n

I must confess that I purchased it based on the look of the veneered top alone. I am pleasantly surprised by the playability of this instrument. I rated it only 4\/5 based on issues I had with the trem block.
