\nWow is all I can say, other than that speechless. Always played a variety of Fender guitars since I was 12 years old. Mainly because I couldnt or just wouldnt invest the money into a Gibson.
\n
\nThis was definitely an eye opener for me, my example of this series is unbelievably good. Played great right out of the case, sustain is awesome, and the craftsmanship is truly top notch.
\n
\nStill love my Fenders, but must say this Gibson has made a believer out of me that sometimes you really do get what you pay for.
\n

I own several higher end Strats, Teles, used to have an LP Studio, but this LP is a major step up. What I love: Not too heavy, about 8.5 lbs, and well balanced and resonant. Faded finish and no pick guard for vintage rock vibe. Made to get a little beat up, like having a relic instrument for much less $$. Its darker and richer than the pics indicate, and flame top seems to comes out after air and light exposure (maybe my imagination!).
\n
\nMaple cap and BurstBuckers give a smooth bite, the guitar is much brighter than other LPs Ive experienced, coming from single coil guitars all my life I feel at home. Wide range of tones using the 50s style wiring for volume and tone knobs (more on this)... Articulate top and mids; clear and tight bottom end through my Deluxe Reverb, and Mesa Boogie 5x25, both clean and crunch. No mush. Sound cuts through a band without having to turn up loud, without brittleness. After professional setup, plays like butter, the scale length and neck size very comfortable, easy bends, low action, no buzzing, perfect intonation. Well done attention to detail.
\n
\nThe bumps - Received the guitar and the neck pickup pot was not tapering properly... from 100% to 5% in one step, which I thought was a pot defect. I loved the feel and look of the guitar, didnt want to return it, so Sweetwater offered to pay for my local tech to fix... turned out to be a very simple thing, small solder joint between two wires coming off the pot that should not have been there. He clipped it, now works perfectly, didnt even charge me. All the taper you want. Should probably have been caught by QC somewhere along the way. He did a full setup which I recommend for any new guitar.
\n
\nAlso, I had the tech install pickup covers, I like the look. Doesnt affect the sound that I can tell. If you decide to try this, youll need two neck pickup covers, not a neck and bridge. The spacing of the pickup poles on the 50s style BurstBuckers is identical for both pickups. I didnt realize this, ordered a mixed set, and didnt fit... Sweetwater backed it up, sending me the correct extra cover for free. Shout out to my rep Ryan who was a great help.

The binding was scraped just a little too aggressively (or the wood shrank) causing the wood around the binding to be slightly proud as compared to the binding. 我1号Les Paul
\nWow is all I can say, other than that speechless. Always played a variety of Fender guitars since I was 12 years old. Mainly because I couldnt or just wouldnt invest the money into a Gibson.

OMG
If you haven't tried one, get one!
顶部和体重对我很好,吉他唱歌,即使burstbuckers(通常不是我最喜欢的)。

\nSadly, my example has a fairly deep, sharp binding ridge pretty much all the way around the guitar. The binding was scraped just a little too aggressively (or the wood shrank) causing the wood around the binding to be slightly proud as compared to the binding. Not a huge deal except for the neck, which youd generally want to be smooth, you know...without a sharp ridge along it. This is a perfectly thrilling Gibson Demo Shop quality guitar (that I paid retail for)...Im surprised Sweetwater QA let it through.
\n
\nThe binding work in general on it is pretty sloppy, but mostly in places where its just decorative. I understand its done by hand and I appreciate the craftsmanship...but this was a little beyond for a guitar at this price point, IMO (see photos).

\nAll bellyaching aside, I did decide I can live with it and kept it. Its that killer otherwise.
