Since Im primarily using it for home and recording I was a little concerned that it would be too loud through the cab, and that rolling the volume down would compromise the tone, but I was happily surprised that at even relatively low volumes the tone retains its depth and richness. Im amazed at the level of clarity it retains regardless of how high the gain gets, and I literally cant dial in a bad tone. Im playing it through an Avatar 2x12 cab with a vintage 30 and a G12H30, and its a great combo for this amp. When I first started playing, I told my teacher, that I wanted a tube amp that sounded good enough without pedals. Stupid green statement. But guess what. The JJ is that amp. YOU DO NOT NEED PEDALS TO GET THE SOUND YOU ARE LOOKING FOR WITH THIS AMP. Matter of fact my pedals hurt my tone so I took them all back to their Other tube amp. \nIts plenty loud, has a great sound when you find your spot and plug in a guitar with nice passives.
\nLove my actives but when I plug in my Les Paul I just fall in love with the tones you cn get.
\nI have a chorus pedal helping with the clean but I believe she can get better the louder you go.
\nIf she had a built in reverb that was foot switchable, my God. Id like to see that but this thing isnt going anywhere.
\nBeing a Cantrell fan its staying in my collection and simply because it is awesome!

Friedman JJ Jr Rocks

When I first started playing, I told my teacher, that I wanted a tube amp that sounded good enough without pedals. Stupid green statement. But guess what. The JJ is that amp. YOU DO NOT NEED PEDALS TO GET THE SOUND YOU ARE LOOKING FOR WITH THIS AMP. Matter of fact my pedals hurt my tone so I took them all back to their Other tube amp. But the delay pedal actually worked well with this amp. I bought the matching 4\/12 cab and the JJ 20 watt head. I guess I will never have to buy another setup. Sweetwater is the place. \nIts plenty loud, has a great sound when you find your spot and plug in a guitar with nice passives.
\nLove my actives but when I plug in my Les Paul I just fall in love with the tones you cn get.
\nI have a chorus pedal helping with the clean but I believe she can get better the louder you go.
\nIf she had a built in reverb that was foot switchable, my God. Id like to see that but this thing isnt going anywhere.
