\nOut of the box, plays and sounds great. I replaced the strings with flatwounds. Ill have to make some adjustments to the truss rod and string height because of the string change. Not a big deal, as Squier provides the Allen wrenches to do so.

\nContinued : I was Running a Bass Fly Rig V2, compressor and EQ, Pickups were noisy like an unplugged cable touching your finger when the amp is still on. Luckily Seymour Duncan, Aguilar and Bartolini offer many many different options for jazz p\/us you can get for $150-$350 a set that would make it sound better. I will say the neck is not made for the Mwaaah sound, you can get it in some spots and youll wear down the 12th-14th fret range on the G to get it. It is definitely not a cheap Jaco Clone. My experience was the strings rattled on the fretboard right out of the box, to the point I had to raise the action and add a 1\/2 turn of relief to the truss rod, was never able to eliminate the high \"fret\" buzz 12-20, no matter what I tried. I used Nomad F-One to rejuvenate the severely dehydrated fretboard, and swapped to Ernie Ball Cobalt flats that were pretty good overall, just came damaged. I wanted to love it, but I ended up returning it. Having to do that much adjustment right off the bat along with having the saddles set with the low E way below ADG and not buzzing while ADG buzzed like crazy, every day I picked it up and it was buzzing again, had to put the action so high it was unplayable, set it to fender specs, buzz and raise from there. I have never had a Squier or fender Bass that didnt have its neck move like it was blowing in the wind. MIM Fender Jazz bass ended up being adjusted to the max with truss rod maxed out and still bowed (only done by local luthiers, years ago), just outside of warranty. (from Guitar Center). I dont think this bass is worth $450, your mileage will vary but personally Im done with Fender and Squier. They are hard to get, but I recommend Sire Marcus Miller V5 Fretless Jass Bass (once again check out Low End Lobster), at a $600 price point, comes with a much better neck, and youre buying this bass for the neck. I personally went with an Ibanez SRH500F, its a bizarre, but beautiful instrument and it has more mwaaah than you can shake a stick at, though it does not have any pick ups, just one sound, making it a one trick pony. I think Ibanez has the best offerings out there and at this Price Point there is a dual hum bucked SR300 something or other $479.99 that I would take over this. If youre looking to use it as a modding platform, maybe, but youre going to wish you had a different neck. Im going to be looking at the Ibanez Portamento next.

\nOut of the box, plays and sounds great. I replaced the strings with flatwounds. Ill have to make some adjustments to the truss rod and string height because of the string change. Not a big deal, as Squier provides the Allen wrenches to do so.

(from Guitar Center). I don't think this bass is worth $450, your mileage will vary but personally I'm done with Fender and Squier. They are hard to get, but I recommend Sire Marcus Miller V5 Fretless Jass Bass (once again check out Low End Lobster), at a $600 price point, comes with a much better neck, and you're buying this bass for the neck. I personally went with an Ibanez SRH500F, it's a bizarre, but beautiful instrument and it has more mwaaah than you can shake a stick at, though it does not have any pick ups, just one sound, making it a one trick pony. I think Ibanez has the best offerings out there and at this Price Point there is a dual hum bucked SR300 something or other $479.99 that I would take over this. If you're looking to use it as a modding platform, maybe, but you're going to wish you had a different neck. I'm going to be looking at the Ibanez Portamento next.

\nOut of the box, plays and sounds great. I replaced the strings with flatwounds. Ill have to make some adjustments to the truss rod and string height because of the string change. Not a big deal, as Squier provides the Allen wrenches to do so.

I shouldn\u2019t have waited so long. This is a sweet instrument. The only change I made was to install flatwounds since that\u2019s what I\u2019m used to. it did take a bit of getting used to playing on the fretlines instead of behind them, but once I adjusted my technique intonation was no problem. The controls adjust to a wide range of tonal possibilities, and the build quality does appear to surpass that of a $350.00 USD instrument.
\nI like the challenge of this instrument, and I\u2019m finding the reward in the playability and the sound output.
