This just smells of both cost-cutting and a lack of forethought in the design. The SKB has handles on both ends that are more solid and more comfortable than the Gator handles. The SKB handles look and feel like they were built for this case. The Gator handles look and feel like someone went out and bought some handles to attached to their case. Overall, the build quality of the SKB is much better than the Gator both in workmanship and in materials used.
