I kept practicing, but would occasionally get the fret buzz from the low EA strings. I learned to live with it. Come November, I had a humidifier installed in my house to combat the dry air. That's were things went downhill. The neck, being as thin as it was started to bow back. I decided to adjust the truss rod myself. I would turn it one way one day, fret buzz; the next day it would be so bad that the strings got caught on the wrong fret and I was fighting to hit the correct note. I had the truss tightened so much inward, I would have to grip the neck uncomfortably tight. Realizing it was beyond the return window and how much I've been fighting the thing, I just threw it in the trash one night. The next day, I came to my senses and ended up getting a Squier Strat. Right off, I felt a major difference. No fret buzz from the Squier. What's more, the neck is thicker than the Ibanez' so my hand doesn't cramp anymore AND it produces a rich tone, AND holds a sustain really well. Also, the tuning pegs feel solid with the Squier and don't move when I bump them. Do yourself a favor, skip this and get the Squier Strat; the kit if you want the amp, case; the whole shebang. I guarantee it'll be less of a disappointment than this hacked together Strat clone with a toothpick neck and tuning pegs with more play than an arcade joystick.
