\nThe FR-8x solves the stage volume problem and provides a perfectly tuned (or detuned) instrument every time you switch it on! Using your own stage amp, you can dial in any volume you need without any chance of feedback. For my big show, there was not enough room on stage for me to use my own amp, so I plugged into the board using a mono 1\/4\" cable into a direct box on stage dedicated to the accordion. During soundcheck they routed my sound to a stage monitor in front of me. The show went great! The accordion performed flawlessly and was a big hit with the audience.

\nAs for sound... During the gig, I played the accordion for a lot of seasoned musicians while in the green room. Everyone had a hard time believing it was not a real accordion. It could not be distinguished by its sound, or much by its looks!

\nCompared to my big accordion (Dallape Organtone), the FR-8x has a similar overall volume when played hard. Ironically, Roland bought Dallape and produced a complete simulation of my beloved Organtone! For the show, and most accordion stuff so far, I have used the default accordion sound with all reeds engaged which does sound similar to my Organtone.

\nLearning the material for the show was made a much easier using the V-Accordions ability to transpose keys easily. On stage, you just needed to spin the rotary knob to get in the right key for the song. I disabled all chin switches for the show because in practice I was bumping them accidentally and switching reed sets.

\nBeing a multi instrumentalist, stage space is precious for all my horns. I play my Dallape accordion about 20% of the time in and handle keyboard parts with a Nord Stage II. Thats going to change. With the great organ and keyboard sounds on the FR-8x, Im saying goodbye to using my Nord on stage! For wireless audio connection to my amp, I use the Line 6 Relay G10 Instrument Wireless System and for wireless midi connection to my foot controller I use the CME WIDI Master system. This V-Accordion and wireless rig has a lot of potential for me on stage, and off stage, the speaker volume is more than enough for street performing.
